A blog inspired by George Alves

So, as I sit here waiting for my blueberry cobbler to bake, I thought of an idea. You see, this cobbler was a result of a facebook status update by April Cespedes, on which George Alves commented, "Is this really happening? F--K we're getting old... I made port-a-gee sweet bread tonight."

And, yes, George, we are definitely getting old. I never imagined that cooking would ever become more than a necessity or, more appropriately, an activity that involved more effort than sticking something in the microwave. I now cook probably 3-4 times a week and I actually enjoy it.

So, if you haven't figured it out by now, my idea was to start this blog as a way to share recipes between friends. I will invite anyone that wants to share their recipes. Just send me an email and I will add you as an authorized blogger. I am going institute one rule: If you are going post a blog entry, you must post a recipe. Comments are encouraged.

George, I fully expect your first post to be the port-a-gee sweet bread.

Oh, I almost forgot. Here is the inspirational recipe mentioned above:

Ingredients
1 bag of frozen blueberries
1 Cup of sugar
1 Cup of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
3/4 Cup of milk
1 stick of melted butter

Directions
Take a bag of frozen blueberries and coat with some sugar in a bowl and set aside. In another bowl whisk together the following: 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 3/4 cup milk and 1 stick melted butter. Then add to a baking dish (sprayed with cooking spray), top with blueberry and sugar mixture (spread out a little). Then bake at 350 for 35-40 mins, although depending on the size of the dish it may need to go longer, just keep checking it.

  3. Yea! I'm so glad you made it and liked it! Although I can't take the credit for creating the recipe, I owe it all to my favorite food channel show: Quick Fix Meals with Robin Miller...
